Why I Disclose Every Affiliate Relationship

I believe in transparency and your right to make fully informed decisions. While most websites include a single general disclosure at the top of a page, that isn't enough when it comes to products that may affect your health and home. Every individual affiliate product on Interior Medicine is clearly labeled as an "Interior Medicine Affiliate." You should know exactly which recommendations support this work.

How Affiliate Links Work

When you click an affiliate link on Interior Medicine and purchase a product through the brand's site, the brand pays Interior Medicine a small commission. The price is the same for you, and in many cases I'm able to offer a discount code that makes it lower. If you return a product, I don't get paid for that purchase. My income is tied directly to whether the products I recommend actually work for you.

Why I'm Affiliate-Funded

Affiliate revenue is what keeps Interior Medicine ad-free. This means no banner ads, no sponsored placements in the middle of articles, and no clutter between you and the content. I prefer the affiliate model over advertising because it ties my income to recommending products I actually believe in rather than to selling ad space.

How Partnerships Work

Most partnerships begin organically. I recommend a product highly, the company discovers my review and reaches out, and we discuss working together. In other cases, I reach out to brands I already use and trust. I work with brands whose products are genuinely safer and who are advocating for healthier design. A brand doesn't have to be perfectly healthy to earn a partnership. Affordability, accessibility, and real-world practicality matter, and brands often make meaningful steps in the right direction over time. I turn down partnerships that don't align with these standards, and there are many I've said no to.

What Brands Cannot Buy

Brands cannot pay for placement, higher ratings, favorable reviews, or guaranteed positive coverage. Affiliate compensation is only paid when readers purchase a product I've independently chosen to recommend. The editorial decision to recommend a product always precedes any affiliate relationship. If a product's rating changes enough that it no longer meets my standards, the product is either removed, a note is added about why, and the affiliate link is removed.

The full details of how products are evaluated and what I do and don't accept are covered on the Editorial Policy page.

Amazon Associates

Interior Medicine includes a handful of links to Amazon for ease of purchase. I am an Amazon Associate and earn from qualifying purchases made through these links.

Thank You

Every purchase made through an affiliate link helps me continue this work and keep the site ad-free. More importantly, thank you for joining me in demanding healthier, more thoughtful design.
