Red light bulbs let you see at night without disrupting melatonin production or sleep quality. These are the best blue-free options for bedside lamps, nighttime reading, and midnight bathroom trips.
Chromalux Incandescent Red and Infrared Light Bulb
This red light bulb is special, because it’s the only incandescent red light bulbs still available and incandescent naturally offers a broader range of red wavelengths than LED bulbs do. It’s also special because as an incandescent, it naturally emits some warming infrared light, too, so it can be used for therapeutic purposes and as a high quality red light bulb. Comes in several wattage varieties. 10% off with INTMEDICINE10.
Block Blue Light Twilight Red LED Bulb
This red light bulb by Block Blue Light is not only completely blue light free, but also green light free and flicker free. Ideal for lamps on the night stand. It comes in 40w and 60w options so you can still read and see well, without disturbing your circadian rhythm. These last for years, and 10% off is automatically applied through this link.
Rred night lights are key if you’re getting up and walking around at night— red light is the only spectrum that won’t disturb your circadian rhythm if you’re exposed to it in the wee hours, meaning a trip to the bathroom will cause less wakefulness than a standard night light with more blue in its glow will. These have automatic sensors, turning on at dusk and off at sunrise.
Loftie Red Shell Alarm with Bedside Lamp
Loftie makes a very cute and modern red light bedside lamp that’s great as is, but can also be used as a sunrise lamp if you pair it with their circadian rhythm friendly alarm clock. This way, both the alarm and lamp change color and sync with your sleeping pattern. (See all the alarm clocks I recommend here.)

FYI ➜ “Non-toxic” doesn’t have a definition, and I use the words chemical-free, toxin, and toxic on Interior Medicine inaccurately. I do this for practical purposes, for now: they’re accessible terms that allow people to find what they’re looking for, and they’re shorthand for a complicated problem. I made an entire (free!) course about this. Check it out here.
